Gift from the Boss
This mornin', the head of my department gave me a $10.oo gift card for Blockbuster, shook my hand & wished me a Merry Christmas.
He had a stack of Blockbuster gift cards - one for everyone in the security department.

Hangin' out in the room service office, talkin' to Erin
about random bullshit, and she gets a call from a guest askin' for extra silverware & promisin' a "big tip" if it gets up there quickly. Shane
, the runner, was upstairs on another order, so I told Erin
I'd take care of it. Not my job, but what the hell, I could use some extra cash.
She hands me a couple of sets of silverware & napkins, and gives me the room number.
I go straight up there, knock on the guy's door and wait patiently. He opens up, takes the silverware I hold out to him, thanks me, and then hands me two bucks.
Cheap ass, all talk bastard. Should have been obvious I was goin' out of my way to help your sorry butt out, since I do NOT wear a room service uniform. The white shirt? The badge? Security! Ya dumb $#%&!
Anyway, I'm splittin' it with Erin
when she comes by for a smoke break...would have done the same if it had been a "big tip" like the dumb ass guest promised. Current Mood: disappointed

Does anyone have an AM and PM checklist? Would you mind sharing what all is on yours? I want to re-vamp ours like there's no tomorrow but I'm kinda stuck. Not that I don't know what needs to be done...........it's just been a long time since we've had new employees and needed to actually USE one, so I feel I'm drawing a blank......*sigh*

(my shift supervisor) & I were in the office. I was closin' out the shift paperwork while he was in the boss's office, writin' a fire alarm incident report (don't worry, it was a false alarm).
hollers at me from the other office, "What's a good word for 'turned on'?"
He was not amused.
I thought it was funny as hell.

In the past week I've learned there's a whole WORLD of hotel working freaks out here.
And I'm one of 'em. *grin*
I work at an Embassy Suites so I fit here!! Yay! No wait....it's not really that "yay" Haha.
Quick question - Has anyone else's OnQ suddenly become a giant re-booting PITA in the last week? I got no memo!! >.< They keep slamming us with updates, and then shutting our computers down. You know, like in the middle of a check in.
And Help-Help says "What updates?" *sigh* Current Mood: amused

New to the Community...
...but not so new to workin' for the Hilton hotels. I've worked for both an owned & managed property (Hilton Austin) and a franchised property (Hilton at Charlotte Universtiy Place), and I have to say, owned & managed is much better.

Hilton Journeys no longer exists; the website was supposedly taken down as of yesterday.
Call me crazy, but I actually liked that little jingle they would play in the early ad phase, where these people would do incredibly silly hospitable things for other people (like the jogger opening up the gate for the man walking into his front yard). I was hoping to make that a ringtone for when work called me.
I wonder what kind of advertising scheme we're going with this year...

i hate onq...again
This upgrade to OnQ has a couple of annoying features, but so far so good. It was getting to the point where I could laugh about the many frustrations I had with this application two years ago.
And then the stupid thing wouldn't let me bypass the changing of my password so I could log in to Front Desk.
It said I had 13
days before my current password expired; would I like to change it now? I clicked on no, and the window refreshed itself as if I had entered the wrong password. I entered in my old password and was asked again if I wanted to change my password. I clicked on no, and it prompted me to log in again. I tried once more, got the same result, then threw in the towel and changed my password. After that, it let me log in with my new password.
I feel like I got gyped out of two weeks with my old password before I had to think of a new one. :(

hey all, see it's been pretty quiet in here. I moved properties but at another Hampton. and now i'm sales instead of gm'ing and working the desk as well. i like it a lot better. we are making a collage out of the hampton inn key cards, trying to get all the states right now. yeh silly stuff keeps us sane around here. it sure isnt the guest, lol!
